According to an article on CNN Health ( http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/10/05/depression.adhd.internet.addiction/index.html ) written by Amanda MacMillan, "past research suggests that 1.4 percent to 17.9 percent of adolescents are addicted to the Internet" The article points out that those who are “depressed, hostile, or have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or social phobia” are at greater risk of succumbing to internet addiction. Internet addiction can inhibit a person’s ability to function and make decisions. Symptoms of internet addiction include “anxiety, boredom, or irritability after a few days of not going online.” Although at the moment it’s not an official medical diagnosis, internet addiction is being considered for the 2012 edition of what the article refers to as the “bible” of mental ailments: the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Dr. Dimitri A. Christakis of the Center for Child Health, Behaviour, and Development, in Seattle, says that "if at-risk children are given sufficient time and exposure without careful monitoring, Internet addiction could easily become one of the most chronic childhood diseases in America." If we don’t moderate and self-regulate internet use, an increasing portion of society may become dependent on getting their "fix" of the internet, inhibiting their ability to function normally as a member of society.

To certain extent i agree with your article. But on the other hand we have one of the two major influences beside the net, for example look at the music and television its self, lot of media is inflicting with societies behavior, same thing with the music. These days all they sing about is murdering, rape, stealing, etc. No positive out come on either of the side of spectrum. But then again it is the responsibility of your self how you are going to behave and how much are you going to be influenced by it.
